Colonel Hernandez, I was soonrefreshed in body and mind by a bath, a meal, cleanclothes, and sleep. Colonel Charles Hernandez, thenof Colazzos staff, is the typical American the warm-hearted and chivalrous traits ofhis race, but reared in the free atmosphere of theUnited States, and untarnished by the environmentof Spains mediaeval civilization, he is a living exam-ple of what the true Cuban may be under happierauspices.
