Close up detail of a Land Turtle (Geochelone Carbonaria) which is also known as the Red footed Tortoise. They originate from northern South America and although they are not indigenous 125 land turtles were introduced in Palm Island to replace the small population that was washed away by Hurricane Ivan in 2004. They live in the hills and prior to the new arrivals were hard to be seen. Palm Island, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
