The wording on the plaques is as follows: - 1) This historic park and garden was the gift of Sir William George Armstrong (Lord Armstrong) in 1883 to the citizens of Newcastle as an area of outstanding natural beauty. The friends of Jesmond Dene June 1999. 2) The friends of Jesmond Dene wish to acknowledge the outstanding work of their founder Mr Don McGuire, in the stewardship of Jesmond Dene for the citizens of Newcastle.
