Margaret Bryan (active 1797-1815), British science educator. Portrait engraving of Bryan (left) and her children, published as the frontispiece of her work A Compendious System of Astronomy, published in 1797 by subscription. This engraving is by W. Nutter from a miniature by English artist Samuel Shelley (1750-1808). The signature on the letter on the desk is 'C. Hutton', referring to the English mathematician Charles Hutton (1737-1823) who praised the lectures on which Bryan's book was based. Bryan also published Lectures on Natural Philosophy (1806) and Astronomical and Geographical Class Book for Schools (1815).
