THE CHUECH MISSION TO DEAF-MUTES. This Society was incorporated in October, 1872, to promotethe temporal and spiritual welfare of adult deaf-mutes. Itwas an outgrowth from St. Anns Free Church, founded inOctober, 1852, for deaf-mutes and their hearing and speakingfriends.: In efforts to lead deaf-mutes and their families into pastoralrelations St. Anns Church has accomplished an important localwork in the city of New York, while the Church Mission toDeaf-Mutes has occupied a much larger REV. TfiOMAS GALLAUDET, D. D. The General Manager of the Society, Rev. Thomas Gallau-det, D. D., was greatly blessed in pioneering church workamong deaf-mutes in several of the larger cities of our country,and in opening the way for Messrs. Henry W. Syle, Austin , and Job Turner to be ordained as missionaries to theii*silent brethren. At length, providential circumstances led toa division of the extensive field. The Eev.
