In appearance he is as near a model as ahorse can be; this is not to be wondered at for JamesMadison, his sire, was by Anteeo 2:16%, the lattersold for $51,000, and his conformation and qualitybeing of such a high order that horse owners fromall parts of the United States consigned their bestmares to him, and one month after his arrival at thestock farm in Kalamzoo, Michigan, his book was pacing mares and from mares that had onlyproduced pacers he sired 54 trotters and only two. LIJERO 45923, that paced and they wore hobbles. James Madison2:17%, his son, was as pure gaited a trotter as everlived; he seemed to know no other gaits but walkingand trotting and never made a break in his life. Heholds the worlds record for horses of his size andweight: 17 hands high and weight 1400 pounds whenhe got his mark. He had all the qualifications soneedful in our families today. With Bingen 2:06%,another of Electioneers grandsons, James Madisonis honored by being the sire of three trotters in the2:10 list, Tuna 2:0S%, Brilliant Girl 2: OS %, Emily :10, besides 15 others in 2:30, Including Domino2:10%, Addison 2:11%, The Statesman 2:11%, EllenMadison 2:12%, Confienza 2:12%, Lady Madison2:13%, Dredge 2:14% and Bet Madison 2:15%.
