An old farmer in Herefordshire with his ram. Subsistence farmer living in a caravan with a small flock of sheep and one very old ram.
I came across this old farmer on the Herefordshire and Wales border. He was farming in a barely subsistent level. His farmhouse and barns had collapsed so he and his son were living in two old caravans. Once a month he drove his batterd old car to Exeter fo treament in the hospital. A round trip of 400 miles. His ram, and sheepdog were also very old, and he was tying the ram to a tree so he could separate the ewes. We had a long chat, and he was philosophic about his situation but could see no way out except to try and glean a modest living from his few fields
