Spiders as biological pest control. Magnifying glass being used by Professor Yan Hengmei of Hunan Normal University, Changsha, China, to study a wolf spider. This research is looking at the possibilities of using spiders as a biological pest control. Piles of straw, which are moved from field to field, contain spiders being used to control the insect pests that destroy the crops.
