The station was opened in 1876 for freight traffic and in 1881 for passenger traffic. The State Railways and the Railways of the Bergslags built the station house for the association station in 1877. It was demolished in 1929 and replaced by a new one, right next to the older. Olskroken was dropped in 1980 for passenger traffic and now there are no visible remains of the station.
