Whatever the type of silo the farmer chooses to build, four things must be ob- served : It must be air- tight, strong, perfectly smooth on the inside and placed on a strong, solid foundation. TJic Silo.âThe silo must be air-tight, because the air contains germs that will set to work upon the silage and cause it to spoil and decay. Silage is something like canned fruit, in this respect.
