Tolhuis (Old Tolhouse) In the Middle Ages a toll was levied at St. John’s bridge, now Jan van Eyckplein square. Pieter van Luxemburg, a knight of the Order of the Golden Fleece, used this money to rebuild the Old Tollhouse in 1477.
