The home trade has been ex-ceptionally brisk of late, and there are a mostpromising lot of young pigs coining forward inboth herds. In addition to the diploma of grandchampion, another diploma has lieen awarded bythe grand jury lo the owner of these herds, as thebreeder of t he second best boar at the St. Birmingham: Good Attendance. The Birmingham Fat Stock Show was notfavoured with fine weather last week, and theresult was that the attendance suffered some-what, particularly on the last day (Thursday),when weather of a most wretched descriptionprevailed, and the attendance was considerablyshort of the totals for the corresponding days inprevious years. However, there were large at-tendances on the other days, and the total forthe five days was 43,711, or nearly 700 more thanin 1905, whilst the receipts amounted to £1,29215s., which is about £40 more than was receivedin 1904. Compared with twelve months agothere were larger attendances on Monday andon Wednesday, when the difference in the tak-ings was something like £40. It is satisfactoryto add that not a single complaint or protest wasmade by any of the exhibitors.
