After the meal in the State Dining Room guests walk across the hallway to the East Room and are formally entertained by musical ensemble such as a pianist a singer an orchestra or band or national renown. On past occasions dancing has also been a component of activities at the conclusion of the evening. On this night guests were entertained by Broadway singer Karen Akers who sang " Music of the Night" and Dream a Little Dream of Me" After her performance President George Bush introduces her to Lech Walesa the President of Poland.
