A writer, supposing it to be a new variety, has recently described it in Horticultural Journals and given it the name of Rough Ready. We have propa- gated it extensively for some years. AUTUMN APPLES. Autumn Strawberry,—Medium, roundish, with streaks of light and dark red; tender, juicy and agreeable. Vigorous and productive. Thomas says one of the very best autumn apples. Sept. and Oct. I>yer or Pomme Royal,—Large, roundish, light yellow with a faint brown cheek, fine grained, tender, juicy and of excellent flavor. By the same authority this has but few equals. Sept. and Oct. Pall Pippin,—Very large, roundish, oblong conical, greenish yellow becoming rich yellow when ripe ; flesh rather firm, rich and excellent; shoots vigorous, becoming spreading, moderately productive. Fine in all localities. Oct. to Dec. Gravenstein,—Large, roundish, striped with bright red on yellow ground; tender, juicy, very rich and high flavored. Fine in all localities. Vigorous, erect, and productive. Sept . and Oct. Haw ley, or Dowse,—Large, roundish, pale yellow, tender, fine grained and rich; very valuable. Good grower. Oct. and Nov. Jcwett's Fine Red,—Medium, tender, fine grained and excellent, nearly first rate ; striped red on yellow ground. Oct. and Nov. Jersey Sweet,—Medium, greenish-yellow, thickly striped with red, very sweet, juicy and tender, good in all localities. Fine grower and bearer. A popular apple. Sept. and Oct. Uowcll, or Or
