A few yards from the abbey buildings stands the chapeiofcurious Romanesque chapel of S. Trinite Pantheon, Riez in 1019. It consists of four apses, forming a quatrefoilpreceded by a porch, the central square being carried upas a tower containing a square cupola. The only light isfrom three little windows close together on one side, andbesides the porch door there is another in the side nextthe windows. It seems to have been the cemeterychapel of the abbey, for hollowed out in the rock allaround are shallow graves barely deep enough to containa body, which if it were ever really placed in themmust have been covered merely by a slab level with theground.
