The Garry Bridge at Killikrankie Blair Atholl Pitlochry Perthshire

For bikers this is a superb mixed ride of road and off-road, with a little bit of carrying. Use OS Map Explorer 21. Cross the bridge in Pitlochry by the Festival Theatre and head up the lane to Loch Faskally, close to the A9 but on a nice quiet lane. You take this road down a hill (river and waterfalls on your right). This is the Linn of Tummel area. You will reach a left hand bend with an old metal bridge to your right over the river (Coronation Bridge). Push your bike acorss the bridge and then turn right for some great single track riding in the woods and above the river. The trail turns north and you will pass under Garry Bridge. Carry your bikes up the steps here and set off towards the north side of Loch Tummel. Very shortly you will come to a road on your right to Tenandry. Take this - it's a steep hill in places with superb views. Continue along to Killiekrankie, crossing into the village and turning right back towards Pitlochry. When you get very close to the A9 - as in it is raised up above you - carry your bikes under the bridge and over boulders to enter the forest trails of Craigower. There is some great riding in here with views towards Schiehallion. Continue to a junction on a hill where you turn right. Follow this trail to a fence and gate by the golf course. Cross the golf course and back to the road by the Moulin Hotel (superb atmospheric bar with bar meals and their own brewery). Variation: You can extend this ride before reaching Killiekrankie by turning left along another lane to Blair Atholl and then returning to Killiekrankie to pick up the route outlined above.
