Mr and Mrs Stanborough and friends posed behind a table laid with cakes during a surprise party for their diamond wedding anniversary. A surprise diamond wedding party was held for Mrs E and Mr F Stanborough at the Laing Sports Club at Elstree. Mr Stanborough had joined Laing as a carpenter in 1934. After his service during the war, he returned to become a general foreman and site agent on various sites. He retired in 1970 with 36 years' service.
