A late 19th century view of the Royal Border Bridge spanning the River Tweed between Berwick-upon-Tweed and Tweedmouth in Northumberland, England. The railway viaduct 659 metres (2,162 ft) long with 28 arches was built between 1847 and 1850 and opened by Queen Victoria. The engineer who designed it was Robert Stephenson (son of railway pioneer George Stephenson).
