Mr. Shea is a genial, courteous gentleman, and we all wish him every success in his more respon- sible position. H. F. Calder, of Norwood, is sending in sweet peas of grand quality for mid- summer to the Boston Flower Exchange. M. L. Tirrell has the most beautiful pink form of Centaurea Cyanus we have ever seen. It sells on sight in the local markets. It secured a first-class certificate at the recent show. The Boston Cut Flower Co. made a fine record of wins in the retailers' section at the sweet pea show. It also had a fine table of sweet peas in vases. The fishing party from the whole- sale flower markets, who journeyed down the harbor, had good sport, es- pecially when the long delayed and eagerly looked for thunderstorm struck them. However, no casualties were re- ported. Patrick Welch was one of those who came down to see and enjoy the sweet pea show. He reports delightful weather at Old Orchard Beach, Me. William Miller, from Bastin's Island, in the same state, was pleased to see a number of amateur prizes go to his grandchildren residing there. A. Leuthy
