The two halves with the intermediate commissure give the im-pression of the letter H. The central canal extends through the entirelength of the cord. Each half of H-shaped gray mass has an anterior and posterior por-tion, called cornua. The anterior cornu is distinguished by its larger, wider and thicker appearance than the posterior. Besides, it is separatedfrom the periphery of the cord by the white substance. Between the an-terior portions of the two anterior cornua lies a bundle of fibers crossingthe middle line, which constitutes the anterior white commissure.
