Bristow Coastguard Helicopter launching from RNAS Culdrose after taking over Search and Rescue duties from 771 Squadron


At approximately 0900 on 1st January 2016, 771 Squadron from Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose handed over Search and Rescue responsibilities for their area to Bristow Helicopters based in Newquay with state-of-the-art Sikorsky S-92 search and rescue helicopters. The handover took place at RNAS Culdrose in Helston, Cornwall. The event was attended by Royal Navy Service personell from the base, Bristow Helicopters, emergency services and other agencies who have worked closely with 771 over the decades of Royal Navy Search and Rescue.
