Gdansk, Pomerania, Poland : A man walks through Solidarity Square. In background, the European Solidarity Centre (opened 2014) next to the entrance to the Gdansk Shipyards and the Monument to the Fallen Shipyard Workers of 1970, designed by Bogdan Pietruszka, Wiesław Szyślak, Wojciech Mokwiński and Jacek Krenz and unveiled on 1980. It is the first monument to the victims of communist oppression to be erected in a communist country.
