The Eighty-fourth wasamong his heroes, and when the roll was calledat Chattanooga, 172 of its men failed to re-spond. On the 24th of November the Eighty-fourthwas ordered on duty and took part in the mem-orable battle of Lookout Mountain. It engagedin the battle of Dalton, May 13. 1864. and wasalso present at Resaca, May 14th; Burnt Hick-ory, May 26th to 31st, and Dallas. June 1st, 2dand 3d. At the battle of Kenesaw Mountainand the siege of Atlanta it bore a prominent.
