We are in touch bywire continually with from ten to twentyfish depots on the Atlantic coast, so thatif one depot has had a bad catch onaccount of the storms or like hindranceswe can fall back on another source ofsupply. Supposing the fishing vesselscome in on Wednesday. Then on theMonday previous we get a wire fromthe depot telling us what they expectthe catch to be. We reply what we arein the market to buy and on Tuesdaythe wire comes confirming our orderand relaying the advance informationfrom the fishing fleet. Wednesday theships come in and our order is packedand a wire is sent to us telling us whatis being shipped. This supply is put onthe train that night and sent by expressto Montreal. It travels all that nightand on Thursday morning our trucksare at the station to meet the trainswhich arrive at from seven in the morn-ing up till nine. As we have receivedthe wire stating what has been shipped,we are able to prepare the store to re-ceive the shipment and have already. A splendid display of fish that meant increased sales as well as much favorable comment for its tempting arrange- ment and artistic decoration. 26 booked orders for perhaps a big part ofthe shipment. Five Deliveries a Day As soon as the fish is in the storethe staff starts to parcel up the orderson file and in some cases the fish haveto be cleaned. When the orders are putup they are put in one of seven bins, each of which represents a district ofthe city. We have five deliveries a day, beginning at seven and seven motordelivery cars. The drivers have simplyto take the parcels from the bin andstart out. This system does not meanany more work for the clerks and itlessens the work of the drivers, alsosaving a lot of time. It will then beseen that by this system we are able tohave the fresh fish on the table of ourcustomers twenty-four hours after itleaves the water. We are therefore notone bit doubtful of its quality. Toomuch stress cannot be laid
