Wayne Adams, 85, holds a photo of him and his mother, Beatrice Adams, at his home in south Reno. The photo was taken at the Nevada Air National Guard Base bar in 1964 after Adams won the cross country race from Clearwater, Fla., to Reno during the inaugural National Championship Air Races.
