BK12 takes place from April 16-27, on Luzon and Palawan, Republic of the Philippines. Combined Philippine and service members also conducted a series of humanitarian civic assistance projects and field training exercises. Balikatan is a Filipino word meaning "shoulder-to-shoulder" and characterizes the spirit of the exercise.
