death of Francisco Pizarro González (1471 – 1541) Spanish conquistador who conquered the Incan Empire. In Lima; on 26 June 1541 heavily armed supporters of Diego Almagro II stormed Pizarro's palace; assassinated him. Diego de Almagro the younger was caught and executed the following year after losing the battle of Chupas.
