An Italian cup-hilt rapier, circa 1650 Long slender blade of flattened hexagonal section. A narrow fuller on both sides of the forte stamped with the inscription, "LAUDATI DOMINUM". Elaborate cup hilt with five finely pierced guard plates inserted on both sides. Grip with replacement iron wire winding and Turk's heads. Hollow, pierced pommel. The obverse side of the pommel and hilt bear an embossed and cut coat of arms, likely a later Historism period addition.
