May 2019 Burren Junction, Aust: Farmer, Susie Marshall prepares to return for a new load of grain to hand feed sheep in a nearby drought torn paddock
Despite the severity of the ongoing drought, the sheep on this property are well fed and have constant water from an artesian bore. Grain is delivered every second day from a trailer mounted hopper into long narrow steel trays laid out in the paddock followed later in the day by a load of hay. A day after this shot was taken the area received a fall of just 20 mm (3/4 of an inch) of rain. Having received little else in the preceding months it was certainly welcome but only enough to settle the dust for a few days.
