Andromeda Galaxy (M31, NGC 224), optical image. Andromeda, the nearest large galaxy to our own, is around 220,000 light years across, and located million light years away in the constellation of the same name. Its spiral arms and dust lanes are clearly visible here. The dwarf satellite galaxy M110 is at lower centre. Photographed in 2018 from the Cumeada Observatory in the Dark Sky Alqueva Reserve, Portugal.
