Wide field view of constellation Aquila, with the bright blue-white star Altair at centre, the red star Tarazed above, and the dimmer star of the trio, Alshain, below. Above Tarazed is the distinct dark nebula known as Barnard's E. Named for Edward Emerson Barnard who photographed and catalogued these dark nebulas in the early 20th century, the 'E' is officially B142 and B143. A large dark lane in the Milky Way at right contrasts with the rich starclouds here in Aquila. Photographed from southern Alberta, Canada on 16 May 2023.
