The school is located in the central part of the State, at Wausau,on the Wisconsin River, and was opened to students October 6, county was once a dense forest, but has now been transformedinto a fertile farming district. Health conditions are excellent. The main building is a three-story brick structure 42 by 95 basement floor contains a carpenter shop, a laboratory, and a [Bull. 242] U. S. On the second floor are located the assembly room,the kitchen (PI. I, fig. 1), a recitation room, and the office. The thirdfloor is used by the comity traming school for teachers. In additionto this building the school has an annex which contains a boiler room,a blacksmith shop, a creamery, and a greenhouse. A barn 30 by 40feet was built by the students and is used for the housing of farmanimals kept on the school farm. The school has a small farm of 7 acres, which is utilized fordemonstration work in the various phases of agriculture and horti-culture (PL I, fig. 2;. Extension work is being done in the form of organizing agriculturalclubs and conducting agricultural contests in the rural schools th ough-out the county.
