Gen. Koji Yamazaki, Japan Joint Staff chief of staff, was honored during his visit to Army Pacific, April 30, 2021, at Fort Shafter, Hawaii. Yamazaki met with Gen. Paul J. LaCamera, USARPAC commanding general, and his senior staff following the ceremony. The meeting created an opportunity for increased dialogue between senior military leaders. The strength of the alliance commitment remains ironclad. The United States and Japan share a long history of cooperation based on mutual trust and shared values.
