Mention The Review wh»n yow wrltf. CLEVELAND. The Market. We now are in the grip of that acute scarcity of stock wliich annually pro- cedes the arrival of chrysanthemums. During the week ending October 6, an air of bustle was ovorywhere apparent, and practically all stocks cleaned up early in the day. The beginning of the present week brings no signs of relief. Dahlias are scarce and the threatened frosts bid fair to finish them any night. Hoses are as scarce as the proverbial hens' teeth. A few chrysanthemums have put in an appearance, but not in sufti- cient numbers to make their mention worth while. Carnations are improv- ing in size and length of stem. They arrive regularly now and are quickly sold, but there is a general comjdaint occasioned by their slowness in crop- ping this fall. Easter lilies also are in low supi)ly, witli demand strong, (ireens are plentiful, boxwood, leu- cothoe and string smilax being offered in addition to the usual sui)idy. Various Notes. Thieves broke into tlio Knoble Bros, garage, which is in the rear of the store, during the night of October 5, and helped themselves to the extra tires attached to several automobiles. Silvius & Silvius report a successful opening of their new store at Ashtabula, O. They gave roses as souvenirs and so great was the crowd at times tlmt the traffic iiolice wore (•omj)cllcd to clear the sidewalk in front of tlie store. The Wyckoff Floral Co., of Chagrin Falls, O., reports that the frost of October 8 killed its fine ( ro]) of dahlias. The dahlias were late this year, and fully threc-foiirtlis
