Double-stranded RNA (ribonucleic acid) molecule, molecular model. The majority of RNA in a cell is in the single-stranded form, but some double-stranded molecules do exist and take on the same double helix form as DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid). There are four different bases: guanine, cytosine, adenine and uracil. RNA is the intermediate between DNA, the genetic material, and its product, proteins. It also forms part of ribosomes, the location of protein synthesis. This is a model of a synthetic RNA.
