Henry Ward Beecher Statue by John Quincy Adams Ward, Cadman Plaza, Brooklyn, New York


The bronze statue of Henry Ward Beecher was designed by John Quincy Adams Ward and placed on a granite pedestal designed by Richard Morris Hunt in 1891. At the base are bronze figures of an African-American woman and two children representing Beecher's devotion to abolition and children. Beecher was the brother of "Uncle Tom's Cabin" author Harriet Beecher Stowe.
