English naturalist Charles Darwin caricatured as a monkey on the front cover of an 1878 edition of French satirical publication “La Petite Lune” (“The Little Moon”). Darwin, whose famous works on evolutionary theory include “On the Origin of Species” in 1859 and “The Descent of Man” in 1871, is depicted hanging from a branch of the “arbre de la science” (“tree of science”).
