Navy Aviation Boatswains assigned to amphibious assault ship, USS Wasp (LHD-1) utilize a tote board to communicate with an AV-8B Harrier pilot, assigned to Marine Attack Squadron (VMA) 231, prior to launch from the flight deck of the Wasp during flight certification operations, July 16, 2017. VMA-231 assisted the Wasp in acquiring flight certifications in preparation for their upcoming homeport shift to Sasebo, Japan where they are slated to relieve the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) in the 7th Fleet area of operations.
