Scales 52-57 jjpp=; lateral lines ^rnr- Grey above, lighter beneath, with 5 to 9 dark vertical bars on each side, or large blotches alternating with narrow bars; a more or less distinct dark round spot at the root of the caudal fin; vertical fins with dark bars; dorsal fin and upper part of caudal with a pale border, faintly edged with black.
