Southsea,Hampshire Thursday 29th September 2016 Three Fire Figthers have bene rushed to hospital after attending with sixty firefighters to tackled a large blaze at a high-rise block of flats in Portsmouth. Windows in the Flat on the 13th Floor where blown out that has been described as blow torch effect. Firefighters were sent to the fire at Handsworth House, Quinton Close shortly before 04:00am The service said the fire broke out in a flat on the 13th floor of the 17-storey block. South Central Ambulance said three firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion and 30 residents were assessed for smoke inhalation problems. All three firefighters and two of the residents were taken to hospital for treatment. The fire service said residents in flats on the floors above the blaze were led to safety. Residents are being cared for at the Somerstown Community Centre and a number of roads in the area remain closed to traffic. ©UKNIP
