NYS Assemblyman Deborah Glick, left, joins protesters in front of 35 Cooper Square in New York on Friday, January 28, 2011 to show their support in saving the c. 1825 building from being demolished. The 19th century freestanding building is the oldest structure in Cooper Square and was recently sold to developers whose intention is to knock down the building for high-rise construction. A Federal-style rowhouse, it has had alterations over the years and currently houses a restaurant on the first floor. (© Richard B. Levine)
