Life on Europa. Computer artwork of a cryobot probe (lower left, silver) discovering life below the ice of Europa, a moon of Jupiter (upper centre). The worm-like lifeforms may be similar to those seen on Earth around underwater volcanic vents. There are plans for such a probe to land on Europa and melt its way through the ice to explore the ocean of water that may lie underneath. This system may first be tested on Lake Vostok, a body of water under Earth's Antarctic ice cap.
