An early 20th century view of St Patrick's Street in Cork City, the second largest city in Ireland. The street dates from the late 18th century, when the city expanded beyond the ancient walls centered on North and South Main Streets. From 1898 to 1931, the street was served by the Cork Electric Tramways and Lighting Company when services started on 22 December 1898.
This Photo Chrome image was shot around 1900. In the interests of transparency (no pun intended) the image has been cleaned, sharpened and enhanced. The original sky was bleached out and a new sky has been carefully added.
