One that we are hearing a lot about today and will continue to for a long time is the Section 208 non-point source pollution under Public Law 92-500. In Massachusetts, responsibility for the 208 program has been assigned to the Department of Environmental Quality Engineering. EPA funds have been dispersed to Regional Planning Agencies in des- ignated areas to prepare both 208 point and non-point source pollu- tion plan reports for implementa- tion. The reports will be submitted to the Department of Environ- mental Quality Engineering for their approval. Implementation plans that are prepared for desig- nated areas will be used to develop implementation plans for non-desig- nated areas. This makes it impor- tant that plans prepared in designated areas contain implemen- tation plans agreeable to Districts in the state. A method for obtaining informa- tion needed by RPA's was set up during an organization meeting this spring. Since that meeting, Elmer Raymond of the Plymouth Conser- vation District has taken the leader- ship by working with the Southeast Regional Planning and Economic Development District and the Old Colony Planning Council. The activ- ities included organizing commit- tees along commodity lines to work with the RPA's. A committee of cranberry growers i
