The Acropolis of Athens on a rocky outcrop above Athens was an ancient citadel around 1500 BC, turned into a temple area mainly in the 5th century BC and is nowadays a major attraction in Greece. Die Akropolis von Athen thront auf einem Felsen hoch über der Stadt. Sie war um 1500 v. Chr. eine Festungsanlage, wandelte sich vor allem im fünften Jahrhundert vor Christus in einen Tempel-Bezirk und ist heute die wohl größte Touristen-Attraktion in Griechenland.
