Protests are continuing outside University Hospital Lewisham in south London after propsals to close it’s A&E and Maternity units were put forward by Matthew Kershaw, the Special Administrator placed in charge of the nearby South London Hospital Trust (SLHT). Lewisham Hospital itself is financially solvent and within the Lewisham Healthcare NHS Trust but following the funding crisis at SLHT, the administrator has made wide-ranging proposals for south London’s hospitals.
