This design is entirely novel, and in order to takecare of any inequalities of air gap and wheel diameters of theseveral elements, cross transoms are provided, which connectthe side frames and act as equalizers for the individual makes each motor practically independent of the others,although in circuit with the main flux. The cross equalizing-circuits are able to take care of from 40 per cent to 50 per centof the main flux, but tests on the locomotive seem to indicatethat a very small proportion of the main flux is carried in theequalizers.
