Tourists admire and take photos of one of the largest cave entrances at Ajanta Caves, Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India


Pictures from Ajanta and Ellroa Caves, neat Aurangabad in Mharashtra, just after the monsoons. A set of 30 rock cut caves, these are perhaps the finest exacmple of ancienty Indian art and as such are preserved as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The caves have a fine collection of rock cut sculpture, architecture and paintings depicting ancient Indian life from the 4-6th Century BC, as well tales fro, Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism.
