A son of Wilham and Sarah (Wilkerson) Mc-Donald, John S. McDonald was born in Duquoin,lUinois, December 3, 1869. His father was a promi-nent lawyer and preacher in southern Illinois duringthe greater part of his active career and he figuredprominently in Republican politics. He was sum-moned to the life eternal in 1877, and his cherishedand devoted wife passed away in 1899.
