Computerised physiotherapy progra- mme. Man exercising his leg whilst a physiothera- pist monitors a computer assessment of his performance (at upper right). Physiotherapy is the use of exercise to restore joint stiffness or muscle strength after an illness or injury. This assessment system devises an individualised phys- iotherapy programme for limb joints by monitoring a variety of performance indications. The computer may detect potential problems that could lead to further injury. The computer also provides a visual display of the progress made by the patient which can be used for encouragment.
